My research shows that the cognitive and neural differences associated with developmental dyslexia are already present in at-risk pre-reading children.

Using naturalistic reading and language comprehension paradigms, I identified developmental differences in the brain networks that support reading fluency, reading comprehension, and language comprehension. Importantly, I characterized the brain correlates of individual differences in reading and language.

My research has elucidated the crucial roles of both lower-level auditory perception and implicit learning in reading development. Using a variety of tasks, I am investigating dyslexia-related differences in implicit statistical learning for tones and visual stimuli, and in procedural learning.
